James Morrell

The Rt Rev. James Herbert Lloyd Morrell was the seventh Bishop of Lewes.[1] He was born on 12 August 1907 [2] and educated at Dulwich College and King's College London.[3] He began his career with curacies at St Alphage, Hendon and St Michael and All Angels, Brighton after which he was the Bishop of Chichester's Chaplain and then a Lecturer for The Church of England Moral Welfare Council. From here he was Vicar of Roffey [4] and then Archdeacon of Lewes before elevation to the Episcopate in 1959,[5] serving eventually for eighteen years.[6] He died on 28 March 1996.[7]
